The meetings were held in the framework of the ongoing visit of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China from January 12-15.

During the meetings, the two sides noted with joy the growing relations between the two nations in various fields, including the ties between Vietnam’s Public Security Ministry and China’s State Security Ministry and the People’s Armed Police Force, which have contributed to deepening the traditional relationship and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two Parties, States and peoples.

Regarding the cooperation between Vietnam’s Public Security Ministry and China’s State Security Ministry, the two sides agreed to continue exchanging delegates at all levels and to promote the sharing of information on international and regional issues of common concern, and on terrorist, transnational and cybercrimes.

They will work together to ensure security and safety for visiting delegations from each other country and for important social and political events in each country, as well as to protect the rights and legitimate interests of each other’s expatriates.

The two ministries also pledged to assist each other in professional training, particularly in cyber security, and to continue organising strategic security dialogues at the deputy-ministerial level.

Meanwhile, Minister To Lam and Commander Wang Ning agreed to consider the establishment of cooperation mechanisms and to work towards the early signing of a cooperation agreement between the two agencies with a view to laying a legal foundation for joint activities in law enforcement and the protection of the Parties and socialism in each country.

The two sides are set to increase the sharing of information and experience with terrorism and riot prevention and control, as well as in ensuring security for significant political events in each country.

The two sides will strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels along with mutual assistance in training personnel and organising counterterrorism and riot drills.
